You cannot say that you support people and then fund campaigns that destroy their rights. You simply cannot! It’s ludicrous. Think about it:
“I support immigrants! That’s why I’m funding the wall to keep them out and the people who shoot at them across the border!”
“I support women! That’s why I support mandatory vaginal ultrasounds so they can endure rape before an abortion, and I pay for candidates who enforce it.”
“I support blacks! That’s why I went to last night’s Klan meeting.”
It sounds absolutely ridiculous, right? Well, I suppose the second one doesn’t, since we hear that one all of the time, amirite, ladies? But you can obviously look at these statements and come to a clear conclusion that if you truly embraced all people, you wouldn’t infringe on their rights.
Chick-Fil-A does not embrace all people. Chick-Fil-A only embraces all peoples’ rights to buy their chicken. They certainly don’t embrace everyone’s right to marry.
And you know what? I don’t care what they do or don’t think. Bigots can keep their bigoted opinions all they want as long as it doesn’t affect the lives of others. Why can’t they just, you know, not marry someone of the same sex if they don’t support gay marriage? That would hold true to their “core beliefs” and “morals” and “bigotry” without actively preventing other people from having, you know, rights or anything.
I’m not sure why this has come to light right now, but I am glad people are becoming aware of what this company is built upon. But I want to make one thing clear to all of these people supporting Chick-Fil-A’s stance because they claim it’s free speech, which is just bulls***; it’s not free speech you are supporting. It’s discrimination. Your dollars are funding it.
And we can all see that you’re supporting it not because you just love America so damn much, because Ayn Rand is your hero, because you think capitalism is next to godliness; it’s because you, too, can’t stand gay people. Just take one look at the company’s Facebook page and you’ll see hundreds of comments about how the company is doing the right thing, how they’re morally in the right, how they wish there were more Chick-Fil-As and how they will buy even more now that they know the company is anti-gay.
Chick-Fil-A makes it pretty easy to be a bigot in America today—not that it’s very difficult to begin with—and supporting that has nothing to do with free speech, and everything to do with hate.
