The New York City cab driver named Ahmed Sharif lays in a hospital this evening. In a statement, Mr Sharif said, "I feel very sad. I have been here more than 25 years. I have been driving a taxi more than 15 years. All my four kids were born here. I never feel this hopeless and insecure before."
I don't expect the attack on the cabbie to give; Gingrich, Beck, Palin, Williams, and the others a reason to pause, to stop, and to reflect on the harm and the horror that demagoguery cause. They've been riding this horse called Islamophobia hard. They expect to ride it to electoral victory and to dollars.
As for Mr. Sharif, a fellow human being, a father, a husband, a productive member of the City of New York community, to the above mention gang of four haters, he's not a person, to them, his co-religious are not persons, just objects to be used.
