Tonight's was the last Countdown with Keith Olbermann show. An announcement appeared on the Web that Keith Olbermann and MSNBC; have ended their contract. Within minutes of that news release, Mr. Olbermann began tonight's telecast with an emotional farewell. See the video.

The sudden shutdown of Mr. Olbermann's show and Mr. Olbermann's departure from television have sent waves of regret and a sense of loss through the liberal and progressive community. Whether Mr. Olberman received the boot or whether he left in a huff, may have a measurable the effect on MSNBC.

Quote Mr. Olbermann from his final show -- "The contract between Keith Olbermann and MSNBC has ended. The show Countdown with Keith Olbermann ended tonight. The show (was) never the show itself . . Your support and loyalty if I may use the word insistence required that I keep going. My gratitude to you is boundless and you think I have done good here ,..
