Heatlh Care Reform at the Crossroads

Heatlh Care Reform at the Crossroads

If Obamacare is struck down, does it spell the end?

It seems that if the Affordable Health Care Law is overturned, many believe that it will serve a possible death blow to the Obama re-election campaign.  Yet, as I consider the implications of such an action, I wonder if it really serves as a death blow to the millions of Americans who currently do not have insurance and the millions more that will lose the current coverage afforded by the law.

President Obama did the best he could with the health care debate and reform.  If overturned, the problem of health care in America bounces into the Republican’s court.  It will be difficult for Republicans to sell their brand of patriotism to millions of Americans denied access to health care because of costs.  Americans will be faced with learning a tough lesson if they elect another batch of Republicans who are similar to what the people in Wisconsin discovered when they elected Scott Walker.  The GOP – grand obstructionist party, continue in their failure to do what America needs and wants and continue to keep their ears and their wallets pointed toward Wall Street.

If the law is overturned, the President’s re-election team will publicly defend the law’s constitutionality and push back against suggestions that the battle is already lost.  They will need to piece together a contingency plan if all, or part, of the law is overturned. A contingency plan that will hopefully still provide for many uninsured in our country to be able to obtain affordable health care.  It is a shame that we have come to this.  Rather than find a way to work for the American people, politics again may rule the day.
