The geniuses at the Target Corporation, the owner of discount stores, nationwide, who decided to use shareholder's money and to spend the good will capital of the company, in making a political donation in the reported amount of $150, 000 to a PAC that is supporting a Republican candidate for governor, who opposes gay rights, and who stirs up anti-gay hate, deserve the BP Tony Hayward award for corporate blundering and deserve the reward Mr. Hayward's company gave him this week for his services, a boot out the door to Siberia.

What that executive or executives did was stupid. Not only is a major discount retailer, in a very competitive business, is supporting the forces of hate, and by doing so exposing  itself to the anger of a large number of its customers nationwide, (the number could reach the millions), it is inviting, asking for a nationwide boycott of its stores. (Why would someone want to shop at a store that supports people who want to destroy them?) Target has become like the jackass, that sticks its backside out and demands that the world come and kick its butt, and continue to kick its butt until it is down and out. In other words, this blunder could be business suicide.

Corporations now are free to give monies to what ever causes and candidates the choose, free to open their coffers and pour the loot on those whom they like. Customers of those corporations are also free to boycott those corporations. May the picketing of Target continue and be expanded.
