The chart you see linked in this post (click for a larger version) was made by Parick Farley. All of the arguments came from Facebook polls; in some cases, he used exact quotes (indicated by the *). I was startled, at first, by some of the ignorance and illogical arguments against same-sex marriage, until I remember that we have an elected Pennsylvania Senator, one John Eichelberger, who not only opposes same-sex marriage, but thinks he and the state of Pennsylvannia are doing enough because "We're allowing them to exist." Fortunately for Penyslvannia, Senator Daylin Leachis sponsoring a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in the state, in direct opposition to Eichelberger's bill to amend the state constitution to explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage. I note that while Eichelberger invokes the familiar canards of group marriage and child marriage as somehow directly stemming from the marriage of two same-sex adults to each other, he at least does not refer to disasters of Biblical proportions, including cats and dogs, living together.
Personally, I'm with Dr. Peter Vinkman, as portrayed by Bill Murray. I think it's more reasonable to ask "Should Senator Eichelberger be Granted the Right to Continue Existing?" (as a Senator of course).
