A Colorado man, Gary Brooks Faulkner, has taken the hunt for Osama bin Laden into his own hands, and in his pursuit was arrested crossing from Pakistan into the nearby Afghan province of Nuristan. The Associated Press reports he was arrested with a pistol, 40-inch sword, night-vision gear, a dager and some hashish. His brother, Dr. Scott Faulkner, who lives in Colorado told CNN, "My brother is not crazy. He is highly intelligent and loves his country and has not forgotten what Osama has done to this country." The crazy part of this whole ordeal is that, according to his sister, Deanna Faulkner, his kidneys are failing and that he needs dialysis. She told the New York Daily News, "He only has 9 percent kidney function, and the only thing that can cure him is a transplant," she told the Daily News. "He needs dialysis three times a week. I'm guessing that he wanted to do one last thing for his country before he died."
The AP states that he told those that arrested him that, "I think Osama is responsible for bloodshed in the world, and I want to kill him." That is one incredible journey for a man, solo, in a far off land, most likely with little supplies, and attempting to find and kill the most wanted man in the entire world. That sure is a mission, that is for sure.
It will be interesting to find out more details of this situation. How did he get all the weapons and night-vision equipment, and how did he survive where he was wandering? His story is very intriguing and one has to wonder what consequences will come out due to what he was carrying, and what he was attempting to do. Hopefully he can get the medical attention he needs to survive.
