John A. Boehner, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives, sent a letter to the White House Monday night stating that the GOP may not participate in the health care summit, unless the President junks the existing reform bills and starts over. Oh yes -- unless Mr. Obama throws in his cards, the GOP says it won't play. I expected this.
Last week, GOP Representative Paul Ryan -- dubbed the GOP economic thinker -- came up with the Republican plan to balance the budget by eliminating Social Security and Medicare. The same old GOP idea to kick the old folks to the curb. The real GOP showed its foolish hand, and a mumbling, stuttering leadership had a lot of explaining to do to the older citizens. The leaders denied that the GOP plan was the GOP plan, but was Ryan's idea. HaHaHa!
I don't expect the GOP to show its hand when it is scoring points by scowling at Mr. Obama's cards. And so -- if the "Party of No" does show up, it will have to put up, and its cards won't play.
