Palin Gives a Less Than Impressive Speech Behind Closed Doors in Hong Kong

Sarah PalinSarah PalinSarah Palin, the failed Vice Presidential hopeful, attempted to make her move on the international stage today without much of a splash. Palin, who apparently did not get the hint during her disastrous defeat in the 2008 when she, by many accounts, helped to sink McCain's grab for the White House seems to think that she still has some hope of a political career and is apparently trying gain some sense of credibility for the next presidential elections

One of the many criticisms that Palin received during the campaign was her utter lack of experience dealing with foreign policy since she had not even owned a passport until recently and had no experience dealing with other nations. Since giving up her seat as Alaska's governor to pursue her own political interests, she is attempting to circulate on the paid speaker circuit in a hopes of making up for her lack of experience. She gave her first ever international speech at a financial forum of business executives in Hong Kong where many there had never even heard of her.

The press were not allowed to attend the forum but some fuzzy cam phone footage and reports from attendees have revealed a few interesting remarks. She broke what used to be the cardinal rule of the Republicans, that you never bad mouth the nation or the President on foreign soul. But then again, Palin has a habit of acting as if the rules do not apply to her, so continued with the political faux pas and blamed the US government for the collapse of the economy

Palin actually stated that the market did not fail that in fact that crisis was caused by too much oversight, is saying that we needed to get rid of regulation and let the market run itself without any standards by which to guide it. Although the rest of the world would likely disagree with her, she nonetheless claimed to be speaking for “main street America”. So apparently the rest of the world who saw the market fail was suffering from some sort of mass hallucination and only the gun toting, wolf shooting, Palin can see the light.

Adding to her criticism of the nation, she also used the opportunity to express her own views of the health care debate irregardless of the fact that it was a completely inappropriate forum to use as her own personal soap box for American domestic policies. But to spite her soap box poke at the imagined death panels that she and others have tried to scare the American people with, many in attendance saw her speech as a fairly politically safe and utterly boring hour and a half waste of time.

The few pieces of her speech that did make it to the media showed more than a boring and somewhat out of touch Palin but also highlighted the fact that she had absolutely no idea of how to address an international audience and her disregard for the very country that she was suppose to represent makes you wonder if she has missed the fact that the role of the President, or any government official, is to serve the people, not the other way around.

If this is the best that the Republican party has, I think President Obama could be in a coma during the next election and he would still win hands down.
