Obama's speech full of truth, but fundamentalists will be fundamentalists
President Obama is in the Middle East with a message of peace for the Muslim world.President Obama's speech last night in Egypt was full of hope and truth. He spoke honestly about the situation in Israel, how the Jewish people need to relax and stop being jerks. Obama has put the Palestinians in a new light and used new words to describe them compared to all the past presidents. He acknowledged their humanity and struggle for freedom and rights. He told the Israelis to stop violating agreements and treaties. Ultimately, he has shown the Palestinians that someone in the White House believes in their humanity.
Republicans on the other hand are soon to be screaming about how Obama is a Muslim again, how his name rhymes with Osama and how he is weak and will lead to the destruction of America, typical paranoid freakout for the GOP. Not sure how being cordial invites more destruction, but whatever. Osama bin Laden also has an opinion of Obama that he is the same as Bush. But bin Laden seemed to be losing it a bit. He seemed out of touch and ranting, unlike past videos where he still seemed scary and viable as an enemy. Now he's like the Muslim Rush Limbaugh, just ranting and yelling with none of his remarks quite hitting their targets. Osama was yammering about how the Taliban in the Swat Valley should be left alone, which virtually nobody on Earth agrees with, even other Muslims. Yeah, yeah, we'll feel your wrath Osama, your wrath of insignificance.
Ultimately, I think the problem with the President's speech is that the Muslim fundamentalists don't care. They want the world to be Islam, and whatever kind words do come out of our leaders mouth, they will still be the words of an infidel.
