From an account in the Associated Press, I learned that about 200 protesters in Dublin, Ireland, gave the ex-British prime minister Tony Blair an energetic greeting, yesterday, Saturday, as he arrived for a book club signing of his memoirs. These good people of Ireland hurled shouts of "War criminal." A few also hurled shoes and eggs, their earnest response to his book of fantasy, in which he justifies his role in the invasion of Iraq.
Mr. Blair was the junior, but an important key player, in the decision to invade Iraq, and he, as Britain's Prime Minister, took his country to war based on lies.
The AP-- " Demonstrators chanted that Blair had 'blood on his hands' as the former prime minister arrived at a Dublin bookstore. Shoes, eggs and other projectiles were thrown toward Blair as he emerged from a car, but did not hit him. A flip-flop could be seen lying on the roof of a BMW in Blair's motorcade."
Mr Blair's book of fantasy, lies and excuses covers topics other than Iraq. He wrote this book (his memoirs) to explain his politicial career. Security at the book signing was tight. Reports the AP -- "Book buyers - who appeared to outnumber the protesters by about two to one - (were) told to hand over bags and mobile phones before entering (the book shop).. Blair spent about two hours in the store before emerging to more shouts, boos and hurled eggs. He was quickly driven away, as a police helicopter circled overhead."
He should have been driven to The Hague.
