Iran is not subtle. I remember writing a week or so back about how Iran is not good at international foreign relations- and today is another example of why they continue to scare the hell out of most western countries and the main response anytime they go on TV talking about things is either eye-rolling or abject fear. It probably has a lot to do with why people can’t trust them on the nuclear issue and continue to send investigative team after investigative team into the country, looking and relooking at the same plants (except for now they will be looking at the new plant which Iran sort of, ok, completely lied about for a few years…)
A Revolutionary Guards official said that if Iran was attacked by Israel or the United States that Iran would “blow up the heart” of Israel. Great, guys- that’s just great. So if anyone invades you you’re going to drop a bunch of bombs on Jerusalem. If Bush were still president, there’s his apocalypse.
"Even if one American or Zionist missile hits our country, before the dust settles, Iranian missiles will blow up the heart of Israel," said Mojtaba Zolnour, deputy representative of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to the Revolutionary Guards.
With all of the recent nuclear difficulties the U.S. and the UN has been having with Iran, we are reassessing the strategy and changing things up a bit- basically, the rest of the international diplomatic community has decided to stop talking tough and making demands on Iran and start treating them like a big boy- so in that sense Iran is making progress as far as their image goes in the international community. I think, though, that they are doing it with fear. When is the last time you saw Iran written about for their love and gentle kindness to the Palestinian people? Maybe it’s because I am in the U.S. that I don’t see this, but come on guys, can you donate somewhere or something to let me know that you have a heart?
It appears that the last round of talks have prompted celebration in the upper reaches of Muslim clerics, who have termed this most recent meeting a “victory.”
"The Geneva conference was a very successful one and amounted to a victory for the Islamic Republic. Up until the conference they were constantly talking about sanctions and suspension, but when the conference was held there was no talk of either sanctions or suspension," said Senior cleric Ahmad Khatami.
It’s true- the U.S. and other nations are now looking at trying to incentivize Iran to not create nuclear weapons through trade and other related advantages.
But in the end, Iran is basically flaunting its position to the world- and they seem more intent on talking a big game than on talking about any kind of deal.
“The Zionist regime [Israel] and the United States cannot risk attacking Iran," said Zolnour.
Regime? Cannot Risk? That is big talk, but warranted if all the fears of the West are true about Iran’s new military capabilities…
