Tony Perkins, head of the right-wing, self-described Christian group, the Family Research Council, an influential group in right-wing politics, has pointed the self-righteous finger at the Republican National Committee, (RNC), because of the RNC spending nearly $2000 to entertain young donors at a topless, sex bondage nightclub in West Hollywood, and has said in so many words, "Get away from me Satan!" Yes, he has said this in so many words. What he literally said was, as reported by the Washington Post and by other media outlets, "don't give money to the RNC."
Give the RNC no money? What is he trying to do? Shrimp of life style of the Chairman and staff of the RNC?.
Mr. Perkins is not alone in pointing the self-righteous finger at the of RNC, defeated, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), another right-winger and self described Christian conservative, said that he was "disgusted" by RNC. Mark DeMoss, "head of a Christian public relations firm in Atlanta, who had already said he would stop giving to the RNC following the leak of a fundraising appeal last month that depicted President Obama as the Joker character from the Batman movies." Back up. This man sounds like a true Christian. And he said of the RNC, spending at the bondage-themed nightclub, "it contributes to the lack of trust that people have in the whole political system. We as Republicans have contributed to the lack of trust by not setting a higher standard than those we like to criticize." All jokes aside -- Right on, brother.
The Washington Post reports, "it's unclear if Perkins' remarks will have much influence on either fundraising for the RNC or the job security of party chairman Michael Steele. Steele has not yet faced any calls to resign from prominent Republicans in the wake of the night club controversy."
That's good for us Progressives, for as I've said here before, and hopefully will be able to say many times more, Michael Steele, Esquire, is the best RNC chair Progressives can ever hope for. Let's hope that Squire Steele continues in that job forever.
