If the polls are to be believe and there isn't much good reason to dismiss them, Americans are listening to and buying into the GOP spin.
Note this report from CNN
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released today, Tuesday indicates that 46 percent of Americans say that Republicans in Congress would do a better job dealing with the economy, with 43 percent saying that Congressional Democrats would do a better job on the top issue on the minds of Americans. The GOP's three point advantage is within the poll's sampling error.
The Republicans three point edge is a big shift from last year, when the Democrats held a 52 to 39 percent advantage. The GOP leads 51 to 32 percent on the economy among Independents, and they have a nine point advantage on the issue among voters 65 and older.
Either too many Americans have very short memories, or the Democrats are doing a horrible job answering Republican spin, or the world is just going crazy.
The economy is in the dumps because the Republicans put it there. The progress that has been made was made by getting around a Republican filibuster in the Senate The GOP has blocked a jobs bill, has blocked tax cuts for small business, tax cuts for middle class Americans. The GOP has done everything it could to ruin the economy, by acting to block every effort by the Democrats to provide measures to make the economy work better.
Traditionally, election campaigns begin after Labor Day. Well, today is the first day after Labor Day. Democrats need to do a better job of explaining to America, why, if she thinks things are bad now, she shouldn't give power back to the Republicans, for if she did, she would witness things getting worse. If America wants to know how things can get worse, she should listen to what the GOP-Tea Party promises to do, if Tea Partiers achieve power. If she doesn't believe what the Democrats say about the Republicans, she should listen to what the GOP-Tea Party says it will do, if it gains power. If she will only stop and listen to the Republicans, she will reject them. The GOP-Tea Party ideas are too radical and too dangerous for America.
