The Republicans-- Don't Call it a Comeback

For like the 100th time since Obama won the election, the Republicans have announced a huge reboot of the party except this time, they mean it.  Celebrating his 100 days in office as head of the RNC, Michael Steele wrote an editorial in Politico today saying that the Republicans shouldn't apologize anymore, without specifying any of the myriad things they have yet to apologize for, and emphasized that the party from now on will be forward-thinking.  Total mentions of Reagan?  Five.

And in continuation of that forward-thinking theme, that Republican listening group that was announced with much fanfare last month has decided to add another member to their group the GOPs new rising star, Newt Gingrich.  Gingrich has officially come back from political exile due to his recent lack of divorcing anyone. This is the latest "catch" by the group after having invited Governor Sarah Palin join their little club, an announcement greeted with applause by comedy writers everywhere.  Joe the Plumber, however, is still awaiting his invite.

And finally, the RNC will vote tomorrow on a sure-fire idea to bring back disgruntled voters-- officially making it RNC policy to refer to the Democratic Party as  the “Democrat Socialist Party.”  Apparently, the Republicans feel that the biggest problem they've had in attacking the Democrats is that they haven't  called them Socialist enough.  Michael Steele has actually come out against the vote but the Committe, you know, the one Steele is in charge of, will vote anyways.
